In 1980, by a casual chance, I was deeply convinced and inspired by Bonsai art. With the support of my family and ambition, Bonsai Design art has gradually become the goal of my life. The most important issue in Bonsai design is how to show the spirit and trait of each tree. For instance, junipers grow at a high altitude, rugged habitat, and infertile soil. Under the influence of its disadvantaged natural habitat, its root, stem, and branch all express the personality of resilience, co-existence, and coordination against adversity. Therefore, it is crucial that these traits are sending those messages through juniper Bonsai art. For a breakthrough on the limitation of using mechanicals to make shape, I used a unique technique called silk sculpting which sculpts to reel off silk by hand. After organizing all the branches, juniper Bonsai not only gives a look of natural beauty, but also a delicate texture of silk. I’m more than willing to share my past experiences to those who want to know. I hope that we can all benefit the most from each other to overcome any upcoming difficulties on the road of Bonsai design.
