Milagros Rauber Herrera Venezuela
Milagros Rauber Herrera, was born in Valencia, Venezuela. She grew up among conservationists and nature lovers’ people. She has accomplished courses about horticulture, Bonsai, gardens design and others. In 1974 started working with bonsai and in 1977 was one of the founders of the “Sociedad Conservacionista y de Bonsai” (S.C.B.) in Valencia, being President during 10 years, and member of the Board of Directors since it’s beginning. In 1989 was the Venezuelan delegate at the “Latin American Bonsai Federation Committee, founded in Omiya, Japan; and at the moment is advisor of FELAB. Milagros is a BCI Instructor since 1999, N° BCI-84 During all these years she has participated in several international events, being the most important: the “International Bonsai Congress” held at New Orleans in 1985, representing the Venezuelan and the American tropical flora; the “10º International Bonsai and Suesiki Exhibition” in Osaka, Japan in 1989 where she contributed with the bonsai photograph section; in 1999 she was one of the speakers at the III-FELAB Encounter in Castries, St. Lucia, in 2003 in the V-FELAB Encounter in Venezuela, in 2005 in the VI-FELAB Encounter in Martinique and in the VII-FELAB Encounter in Puerto Rico, in July 2007. As bonsai teacher she has participated in Panamá, Puero Rico, Martinique, Ecuador, México and Venezuela. One of her bonsai was selected by the “JAL World Bonsai Contest 1999” and in the years 2002, 2003 and 2006 others of her trees were selected in the “World Bonsai Contest” in Tokyo, Japan as International winner. Milagros has been Director and exhibitor in several Bonsai exhibits organized by the S.C.B. She was Chairman of the International Bonsai Conventions, that took place in Venezuela in 1987, 1997, 2002, 2007 and was the Chairman of the V FELAB Encounter “ Venezuela Bonsai-2003” held in Caracas, Venezuela. In publishing matter, she has collaborated with national and international specialized magazines. She published the book “How to Cultivate a Bonsai” in 1978. In 1984 was, co-author of the book “The Bonsai in Venezuela”; in 1998 she published “El Bonsai a su Alcance”. Since 1998 she has published fascicles about “Cascade”, “Works with Rocks”, “Bonsai Exhibit”, “Mame”, “Forest and Raft Stile”, “How to coordinate an Event”, “Bonsai with drift wood”, “Stands for Bonsai Exhibit”, “Microenvironments” and “Bonsai Evaluation”, and started a group of CD audiovisual programs “The art in the bonsai field”, “Bonsai Containers”, Bunjin Style” and “Raft Style”. Since January 2006 she is the Director of FELAB Informa, the official magazine of the Latin American Bonsai Fedetation –Felab–.
