Roberto J. Martínez Puerto Rico
Roberto J. Martínez was born in Puerto Rico on February 25, 1976. All of his life, he has been passionate about art and nature. His love for the arts was so big that he devoted his early years to study this abroad field. Roberto is a painter, sculptor, sketcher, graphic and bonsai artist. He started making, developing and designing bonsai in 1997 when he started studies with Mr. Pedro J. Morales who is still his mentor and teacher. He is also part of the Puerto Rican Bonsai Federation, Bonsai Clubs International, and recently selected as First Vice president of the Latin American & Caribbean Bonsai Federation, among others. In 2002, one of his creations was chosen among the 100 best in the World Bonsai Photo Contest. In 2005 another of his bonsai was chosen as an Honorable Mention Winner in this same contest, and also in 2006, another one in the category of International Winners. Recently, Roberto received the 1rst. Judge Winner of the Certré Award International 2007. Also, he was speaker at the BCI-FELAB Convention 2007, and in many demonstrations and lectures around Puerto Rico. In 2006, he released a DVD about developing and maintaining Bonsai trees (made with tropical material).His biggest desire is to continue learning and passing along his knowledge about bonsai throughout the entire world.
