Yang Hsiu Taiwan Was born in 1972, in Changhua County, Taiwan, and is deeply passionate about penjing creations. Currently is vice secretary in the National Bonsai Association of ROC Taiwan, president of the Chenghua County Bonsai Association, vice president of the Tienwei Bonsai Association and the director of the Taiwan Bonsai Creator Association. Ever since 2003, he has participated in various bonsai exhibitions; many of his creations have been recognized by the public and have often received golden prize awards. He has also been published many times in The Bonsai World of Taiwan magazine and the Huamupenjing (Flower Plant & Penjing) Mandarin magazine in recent years. Additionally, he was invited to Malaysia as a judge and lecturer in 2007. Creation Philosophy His creations are emphasized by the “clip and grow” style, by using taboo branches such as the backward branches to symbolize the adversity in the life, and the orderly branches to symbolize the smoothness in the life, thus allowing each creation to present its unique view of life. He uses the philosophy thoughts of Lao Tzu and Buddhism as the foundation for his creations, and proceeds to discover the relationships in human beings and plants; he transforms the bonsai creations not only for the esthetics and the space concerns, but further gives them significant meanings like eco protection and life education. |
