Giorgio Palmisano Italy
Giorgio Palmisano was born and lives in Locorotondo (Bari) since 1950. He started to enjoy bonsai in 1981 as self-taught, and then he attended workshops with experienced European and international teachers. In 1993 he founded the “Valle d’ltria Bonsai Club” in Locorotondo, of which he has been President since then. From 1998 till 2005 he was an elected member of the UBI Board (Unione Bonsaisti Italiani). In 1997 he wrote the book “Mediterranean Bonsai of Medicinal Plants”. In 1999 he was recognised as UBI Instructor for Bonsai. In June 2006 he organised with his club, and hosted, the most important national exhibition of bonsai and suiseki ever held in Italy, with ESA and UBI to celebrate the 10thAnniversary of the foundation of UBI. The exhibition included all bonsai winners of UBI Awards for the previous ten years. His most important rewards and acknowledgements are; Publication in the national catalogue, “Best Bonsai & Suiseki UBI 2001”, of two of his bonsai; Winner of the Bonsai Prize at the “Arcobaleno” Exhibition in Molfetta in 2001; Appointed member of the Jury of the Suiseki Section of the UBI Convention in Arco in 2002; Mention of Merit Award, in the National UBI Exhibition of Bonsai in Alberobello, in 2006.
