Wang Xuan-Min China Wang’s expertise is in tree Bonsai. His early works from 1980 to 1992 include mostly osiers (willow trees) in his own style. From 1993 until now, his work has focused on pines and cypresses. In 1994, he was given the honorary title of Bonsai Art Master of China by the Bonsai Artist Association. Wang, was born in Kaifung City, Henan Province, and graduated from medical college. He was a physician of orthopedics, but has worked on Bonsai design for the past 30 years. In 1987 he started receiving Gold and Silver awards from national Bonsai exhibitions. In 1988, he was a Director of the Bonsai Association of China, and then in1997 became the vice-President of this association, serving for 3 consecutive years. Several times he has judged or hosted national Bonsai exhibitions and also hosted or participated in Bonsai art seminars. He has offered lessons in Bonsai in many classes and demonstrated personally in them. Currently he has about 200 pots of raw materials, semi-finished, and finished works. In 2000, he was introduced to BCI (Bonsai Clubs International) by Mr. I C. Su. His writing includes a 300,000-word research paper on Bonsai and he considers his research on theory to be complete. His theory is organized according to: 1. The traits of Chinese Bonsai art; 2. The composing principles of Chinese Bonsai art; 3. The aesthetic system of Chinese Bonsai art; 4. The artistic expression of pine and cypress Bonsai. At a practical level, he has developed: 1. Modification of shape technique; 2. Sculpturing technique; 3. Grafting (permanently attaching) technique, and applied those techniques to his work on Bonsai pines and cypresses. 王選民，中國河南省開封市人。醫科大學畢業。原為骨科主治醫師，從事盆景創作已30年。自1987年以來，作品多次榮獲國家級盆景展覽金獎及銀獎；撰寫盆景論文30多萬字。多次擔任或主持國家級盆景展覽的評審工作。多次為全國盆景培訓班授課和現場操作表演，主持或參加盆景學術研討會。1988年任中國盆景藝術家協會理事。1997年至今連續3屆擔任中國盆景藝術家協會副會長。1994年由中國盆景藝術家協會授予“中國盆景藝術大師”榮譽稱號。2000年由蘇義吉先生介紹加入BCI 至今。 本人擅長樹木盆景製作。早期創作（1980-1992）以柳樹盆景見長，並獨具風格。1993年至今以松柏盆景創作為主，在理論研究方面已完成: 1.中國盆景藝術的本質特徵；2.中國盆景藝術的創作規律；3.中國盆景藝術的審美系統；4.松柏類盆景的藝術表現。在創作技藝方面2000年前已完成1.整形技法；2.雕刻技法；3.嫁接技法，在松柏盆景製作的實際應用。現有松柏盆景素材，半成品，成品200餘盆。目前是國內頗具創作實力的松柏盆景園。 |
