Huang is a teacher, not just in the formal educational sense, but also with bonsai enthusiasts in a hands-on day-to-day sense. He became a Bonsai professor in Fujian Normal University Department of Garden Works and created an educational film, “The Making and Appreciation of Bonsai, Volume I & II” which has long been used in Bonsai courses taught at the Beijing Industry of Woods. He also has participated and spoken in national Bonsai workshops frequently. He started to gain international experience in the discussion of Bonsai art with fellow artists from all over the world in the 1995 Asia Bonsai and Stone Symposium in Singapore.
In 1994, he was elected as the star of Chinese Bonsai artists, and received his award from vice-chairman Chen Mu-Hwa in the People's Auditorium. His Chue-Mei work “Chu (Out)” was the only work acknowledged in the third Chinese Bonsai Workshop. A large collection of his Bonsai works and essays has been published in magazines like “Chinese Floral and Bonsai Arts”, “Flowers and Bonsai”, and “Flowers Report.”
Huang grew up in his career of Bonsai artist and teacher. Born in 1959 and raised as cattle-keeper, he has been intimate and familiar with nature since he was small. He is a popularly loved, well-known, and outstanding Bonsai artist.


黃明山1959年出生,小時候是個放牛娃,從小熱愛大自然,熟悉大自然,長大後就開始從事盆景創作,成為教師,並擔任福建師大園林系盆景教授。
1994年獨立完成由中央使用的科教片《盆景的製作與欣賞》(上、下集),該片長年作為北京林業大學的盆景教材,同年當選為中國中青年盆景明星,在人民大會堂接受陳慕華副委員長的頒獎。1995年參加在新加坡舉辦的亞太盆景雅石展,開始同世界盆景界友人探討盆景技藝,在國內經常參加全國盆景研討會,並在會上作了發言。
雀梅作品《出》在第三屆中國盆景研討會上,是唯一得到大會表揚的作品。大量的盆景作品和文章發表於《中國花卉盆景》、《花木盆景》、《花卉報》等刊物上,深受到廣大讀者的喜愛,公認為傑出的盆景藝術家。
