Danilo Scursatone was born in S. Maurizio Canavese, Italy on 01/07/1963. As a student of Master Giovanni Genotti, Danilo started his personal experience in Bonsai and Chinese and Japanese culture in 1988. He acquired the basic Bonsai techniques and step by step he achieved a higher level of skill through targeted lessons enriched with workshops with Oriental bonsai masters and personal in-depth studies he has applied and tested over the years. His multi-year commitment at a well-known nursery, specializing in bonsai for over 30 years, allows him to apply what he has learned and to work at all levels on various species, having full autonomy in the field. Through its activities, the bonsai nursery participated in national and international competitions, winning numerous awards and accolades with bonsai styled by Danilo. Based on the experience gained, in 2005 Danilo started working as a private instructor offering a course of study lasting six years. In 2008, took part at the World Congress BCI-IBS “Art and teaching on the top of Europe” held in Saint Vincent (Aosta-Italy) as Assistant to the headliner, Master Giovanni Genotti. He is a frequent contributor to national and international bonsai magazines with articles that show his Bonsai, his experience, the philosophy and techniques gained over the years. Since 1989 he has his own Bonsai garden with over 120 plants and about 60 Shitakusa/Kusama of different species, which he styled and refined over the years. He works on both deciduous trees, which clearly show the passing of the seasons, and on conifers for the feeling of stability and permanence they transmit. For Danilo, Bonsai is an art that can not only lead us back to the slower rhythms of nature (opposed to the frenetic pace of modern life), but also to shape the character, by offering continuous challenges, high expectations subject to long waiting times and sometimes disappointment, and slowing the flow of life according to nature.
