'Little trees with a story'
THE FUTURE
In recent times FOBBS website has seen a significant increase in numbers visiting the site. With a new format, we hope that this site will further promote the organisation as well as inform the public and bonsai enthusiast alike about activities on the British bonsai scene..
The website provides details of member societies and information on forthcoming bonsai events, National and International. We are now compiling an educational section that draws on articles covering aspects of bonsai. It also offers links to other websites including the National Bonsai Collection, European Bonsai Association and World Bonsai Friendship Federation.
We hope that you will find the new-look website easier to navigate and a useful source of information as well as allowing FOBBS societies a platform to promote their own programmes and events.
Since its establishment back in 1982, the Federation of British Bonsai Societies (F.o.B.B.S.) has progressively grown from strength to strength, increasing from an initial membership of just fifteen bonsai clubs and societies to a total now approaching sixty. During that period, thanks to the efforts of a dedicated team of Committee members and others, F.o.B.B.S. has helped establish a National Bonsai Collection at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, put on a number of national conventions and exhibitions and been host to other major international bonsai events.
Throughout that time, it has maintained one of its principle functions, namely to support its’ member societies by providing information as well as giving support, financially and materially, to those societies putting on large scale bonsai events.
The organisation maintains a high profile by exhibiting at horticultural events, most notably the R.H.S. Chelsea Flower Show at which it has achieved numerous Gold Medal Awards for its’ bonsai displays.
