LEAF SIZE
In all bonsai, leaf size is important. e idea isn’t whether they are smaller or larger. is resides in the fact that they are homogeneous and have the same strength and vitality throughout the tree’s canopy.
During the rst years, when we allow unrestrained growth of sacri cial limbs, leaf size is irregular. Sacri cial branches tend to have large leaves. Bit by bit, selective pruning and pinching of leaves and branches allows leaves to gain equilibrium and eventually all leaves will be of the same size.
When we reach this phase, all leaves are of equal size.
