About

My name is Sebastiano Villante and I live in Sicily, a land that represents the main source of inspiration for my bonsai journey. For many years I have passionately cultivated the art of bonsai, dedicating my work to the study and enhancement of Mediterranean species. After an initial period as a self-taught artist, in 2006 I began my training at the Scuola Bonsai Andolfo, deepening the technical, aesthetic, and design aspects of bonsai through years of study and practice. In 2009 I earned the title of UBI Italian Talent, an achievement that marked an important milestone in my growth. In 2010 I obtained the title of Instructor at the Scuola Bonsai Andolfo, beginning my teaching activity. Over the years I have served as President of the Bonsai Club Vittoria and, together with my friend Giovanni Mugnas, I founded the Taiyoo-En school, with the aim of sharing knowledge, technique, and experience with enthusiasts of all levels. My studies and research are focused on Mediterranean species, with particular attention to the wild olive (Olea europaea var. sylvestris) and myrtle (Myrtus communis). These species, symbols of the Mediterranean landscape, represent the heart of my cultivation and experimentation work. My work is oriented toward understanding their natural characteristics, developing specific cultivation techniques, and creating bonsai that best express their character and identity. Throughout my career I have participated in numerous national and international exhibitions and events, receiving several awards and continuing to engage with professionals and enthusiasts from around the world.
