Mrs.Mangala Rao enthusiastic and much acclaimed bonsai teacher from Pune, Maharashtra has being practicing bonsai art since 1986.her strong ground in Ikebana and her love of gardening inspired and brought her very close to the art of Bonsai.
For more than 25 years she has devoted herself to finding and training fresh talent. Many of her students have become experts in their own right and have even stared classes of their won.
Always striving to improve herself she has participated in workshops conducted by renowned national and international bonsai masters such as John Naka (USA) Peter Chan (UK) Budi Sulistyo , Robert Stevens (Indonesia ) Robert Kepensky ( USA) Poncevic Ceballos (Philippines )and many others.
To spread the awareness of Bonsai art, she has conducted her own demonstrations and workshops in various places in India. Her articles on Bonsai art has been published in many newspapers and magazines.
In the year 2000 her solo bonsai exhibition, MYSTIQUE MINIATURE was held at hotel ITC Grand Kaktiya, Hyderabad AP
Mangala has many prestigious awards to her credit.
Photographs of her Bonsai creations have won recognition at the WORLD BONSAI CONTEST, JAPAN. Photographs of her bonsai have been also awarded five times (2005-2013) by South Asia Bonsai contest conducted by Indian Bonsai Masters Jyoti and Nikunj Parekh. Her bonsai has been listed among 120 world’s best trees in BCI 2015 photo Album and been selected by DK publication, London for the book ‘Bonsai’ written By Peter Warren.
She was associated with Bonsai society, Hyderabad for 25 years and served as a president. With association with her club she has created well appreciated BONSAI WONDER, a bonsai garden in the premises of NTR gardens Hyderabad.
Having relocated recently, Mangala now lives In Pune and continues to focus on imparting the art in Maharashtra. She is keeping on efforts to spread the art by conducting Demonstrations Exhibitions workshops and study classes.
She published a book on Bonsai in 2008 to bring this exceptional art within the reach of the novice in India. The book was very well appreciated by the Bonsai lovers in India and media .

During the period from 1994-2001 he worked with important European bonsai masters like, Hotsumi Terakawa, Marc Noelander, Horst Crekler, Edoardo Rossi and much more.
In 2002 during a meeting in Arco he has the change to meet Alfiero Suardi and Enrico Savini . Thanks to them he could improve his technique and in the main time studied architecture at IUAV University in Venice.
In 2005 founded the Italian Bonsai Dream workshop place with a group of enthusiast to work and enjoy bonsai art 360°.
Since 2007 he’s written articles for the most important bonsai magazines like Bonsai Focus, UBI bonsai and BCI Bonsai & Stone Appreciation Magazine.
From 2008 he’s recognized BCI bonsai instructor.
From 2008 to 2010 he was President of UBI ( Italian Bonsai association ) and director of UBI bonsai magazine.
In 2011 he founded with a group of students ( Italian Bonsai Dream School ) at Garden Verde – Marostica.
For the last seven years he’s been conducting demonstrations and workshops for bonsai clubs and Associations all over the World!
