For the children there was a special workshop on Saturday on origami held by Agnès Paganelli and a course on bonsai by Giacinto Andrioli.An exhibition dedicated to the “Russian-Japanese War of 1904-1905”, conceived and designed by Loren-zo Sonzini, and a collection of unique wooden sculp-tures by Giovanni Fabris, were also exhibited.The success of the fve exhibitions contest Tanks to the large exhibition area it was possi-ble to bring together in one suggestive pavilion the beautiful bonsai of professionals and collectors for the Crespi Bonsai Cup and the Crespi Shohin Cup; the many fne trees of the Enthusiasts’ exhibition; the evocative stones for the Crespi Suiseki Cup competi-tion; and wonderful pots, both ancient and modern for the Crespi Pot Cup. Te technical and quality level of the exhibited trees was surprisingly high, as were the evocative powers of the stones and the originality of the pots.These contests that have provided considerable jackpots; 5,000 euro for the winner of the Crespi Bonsai Cup; 1,300 euro for the winner of the Crespi Shohin Cup; 1,000 euro for the winner of the Crespi Suiseki Cup; and 500,00 euro for the winner of the Crespi Pot Cup. Te cups, on which are engraved the names of the winners, are special for they pass from winner to winner, from year to year, and will become the history of this great event and in bonsai forever. Te top three winners of the Enthusiast’s Exhibition received bonsai from Urabe nursery, tokoname pot and Masakuni tool, the Yokohama Cup for the best coniferous bonsai and Masakuni Cup for the best de-ciduous bonsai. A positive result, exceeding all expectationsAt the awards ceremony which took place Saturday, September 16th, during the gala dinner, Luigi Crespi wanted to underline that: “Te uniqueness and excep-tionality of our Bonsai and Suiseki Meeting is precisely this: to be able to share, in a special setting, the passion and love for the world of small trees. And if with our work we have helped to make all this possible, it’s for me reason to be proud!”He moreover continued with a special thanks to his family, his whole staf, the excellent guests for their efort to transmit their own art, who provided impor-tant support to the success of the event, who held the attention of many visitors from all over Italy and from many European countries, and to the many partici-pants who proposed their best trees, stones and pots for the display and the contests.
