As well, there was the master Daisaku Nomoto, the frst to perform before the open ceremony, on Fri-day afernoon, where in the event preview, he held a demonstration of shohin bonsai. He continued on Saturday with a technical demonstration in which he transformed a tree with good potential in an exempla-ry of bonsai and took time to answer many questions from the audience. On Sunday afernoon he returned with a workshop for the shaping of bonsai for begin-ners. Great success also for his guided visit dedicated to the visitors to the Exhibition. The Japanese masters were joined by important European names of bonsai and other Japanese arts: Edoardo Rossi, author with Crespi Publishers with a lecture on Kazari —the art of bonsai and suiseki dis-play. His book on the topic is available in English too. Igor Carino held a workshop on ceramics, Gaetano Settembrini and Giacinto Andrioli held demonstra-tions and courses dedicated to bonsai, all well attend-ed.Demonstrations, teaching activities and showsThe program of this edition of the Crespi Cup was particularly intense and especially involved, both for enthusiasts and for those who want-ed to approach nature, observing the rhythms and changes through small trees grown in pots. Tis International Bonsai & Suiseki Meeting is born from the premise of bringing people to the world of bonsai through oriental art forms that have a similar discipline to bonsai.Tat’s why presenting the world of bonsai, we em-brace aspects of Japanese and Eastern culture, giving visitors the opportunity to discover new forms of art, fully enjoying the time spent in the magnifcent spaces and gardens of Crespi Bonsai. Featured on both days of the event, was the tea cer-emony and tasting presented by the ambassador of tea to the world, master Rie Takeda. She is also the owner of Chazen, nominated this year as the frst tea house of Japan. Te tea ceremony had great attendance during the days of the event at the tea room set up in the Crespi Bonsai space: a corner for a “Smile and peace in a cup of tea.”Enchanting the public during the opening ceremo-ny was the performance “Music and voices from Ja-pan” by Luca Rampini at the piano, sung by Susanna Marino.Other activities included Japanese calligraphy and painting on silk, by artist Kazuko Kataoka; the SUISEKI CUP (Top to bottom)One of the stones tied for frst place, the Keisho Seki of Emilio Capozza.The Abegawa-ishi stone of Paolo Dassetto, tied for frst place.Yamagata-ishi stone of Claudio Villa, second place.Setagawa Mizutamari-ishi stone of Enzo Ferrari, third place.
